Today's post shall be dedicated to Serene (today's birthday girl), and may God grant you many more to come! And yet again, sorry if this isn't relevant, but hopefully this will be the last time I have to post this for this month.

"Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate. It is our light, not darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous?'

Actually, who are we not to be? We are children of God. Our playing small does not serve any purpose. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people don't feel insecure around us.

We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the Glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in EVERYONE. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.".

A rather long quote, but very meaningful. To those who still remember, some time ago we did a study on spiritual gifts. We have ALL been given our own individual, unique gifts. Everyone will have a gift, regardless of whether you notice you have it yet. With these gifts we are called to glorify God and serve him. But if we are afraid of using these gifts, if we are afraid of standing out, then how do we shine for God?

Matthew 5 Verses 14-16 say "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.". Our gifts and talents are like candles. If we choose not to use them, to put these 'candles' under a bowl, then it would be as good as not having them. But if we choose to use our talents in a way that is good and pleasing to God, then we are putting these 'candles' on their stands, and showing the world God's light. So use your talents to glorify God, and in doing so we will give others a chance to do the same.

Prinsep Lighthouse (PLH) is the youth ministry of Prinsep Street Presbyterian Church. It’s meant for all youths aged 13-18 years old to come together every Sunday for a fellowship as well as to worship God and learn more about Him.PLH is on every Sunday from 11am to 12.45pm. On usual Sundays, we have worship time from 11-11.30am. During worship, we sing songs of praise to God.

After which the youths will break up into their respective groups to do a Bible Study for the rest of the time there. These Bible Studies are led by Mentors, who are really nice and fun people and are very knowledgeable and helpful as well. While doing Bible Studies, we share about our life too! Our joy, our pride, our problems, our challenges..and through this, we make loads of great friends!!
