Seek the Lord

For all you PLHer's who had just gotten your 'O' level results.... 2 verses to encourage you as you prayerfully consider what's next for you :

"Be joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances...." 1Thess 5:16,17,18

Whatever your results, whether it's up to expectations or not, give thanks! Recognise that God is souvereign and He is in control, so just thank Him for being our good and loving Father. He has the best plan for our lives.

"You will seek Me and find Me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you," declares the Lord" Jeremiah 29:13,14

Yes, the Lord promises that He will reveal Himself to those who seek Him with "all their hearts"! He will show us His plans and His ways for our lives when we truly desire to follow Him and to be obedient to Him.

So, my prayer for all you 'O' level people is that you will earnestly seek the Lord as you consider where to go next. All PLHers are praying with you!

Satan's plan

Satan called a worldwide convention of demons.

In his opening address he said,

'We can't keep Christians from going to church.'

'We can't keep them from reading their Bibles and knowing the truth.'

'We can't even keep them from forming an intimate relationship with their saviour.'

'Once they gain that connection with Jesus, our power over them is broken.'

'So let them go to their churches; let them have their covered dish dinners, BUT steal their time, so they don't have time to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ..'

'This is what I want you to do,' said the devil:

'Distract them from gaining hold of their Saviour and maintaining that vital connection throughout their day!'

'How shall we do this?' his demons shouted.

'Keep them busy in the non-essentials of life and invent innumerable schemes to occupy their minds,' he answered.

'Tempt them to spend, spend, spend, and borrow, borrow, borrow.'

'Persuade the wives to go to work for long hours and the husbands to work 6-7 days each week, 10-12 hours a day, so they can afford their empty lifestyles.'

'Keep them from spending time with their children.'

'As their families fragment, soon, their homes will offer no escape from the pressures of work!'

'Over-stimulate their minds so that they cannot hear that still, small voice.'

'Entice them to play the radio or cassette player whenever they drive.' To keep the TV, VCR, CDs and their PCs going constantly in their home and see to it that every store and restaurant in the world plays non-biblical music constantly.'

'This will jam their minds and break that union with Christ.'

'Fill the coffee tables with magazines and newspapers.'

'Pound their minds with the news 24 hours a day.'

'Invade their driving moments with billboards.'

'Flood their mailboxes with junk mail, mail order catalogs, sweepstakes, and every kind of newsletter and promotional offering free products, services and false hopes..'

'Keep skinny, beautiful models on the magazines and TV so their husbands will believe that outward beauty is what's important, and they'll become dissatisfied with their wives. '

'Keep the wives too tired to love their husbands at night.'

'Give them headaches too!

'If they don't give their husbands the love they need, they will begin to look elsewhere.'

'That will fragment their families quickly!'

'Give them Santa Claus to distract them from teaching their children the real meaning of Christmas.'

'Give them an Easter bunny so they won't talk about his resurrection and power over sin and death.'

'Even in their recreation, let them be excessive.'

'Have them return from their recreation exhausted.'

'Keep them too busy to go out in nature and reflect on God's creation. Send them to amusement parks, sporting events, plays, concerts, and movies instead.'

'Keep them busy, busy, busy!'

'And when they meet for spiritual fellowship, involve them in gossip and small talk so that they leave with troubled consciences.'

'Crowd their lives with so many good causes they have no time to seek power from Jesus.'

'Soon they will be working in their own strength, sacrificing their health and family for the good of the cause.'

'It will work!'

'It will work!'

It was quite a plan!

The demons went eagerly to their assignments causing Christians everywhere to get busier and more rushed, going here and there.

Having little time for their God or their families.

Having no time to tell others about the power of Jesus to change lives.

I guess the question is, has the devil been successful in his schemes?

You be the judge!!!!!

I got this in an email, and I thought that it is rather thought provoking... and it's also quite related to yesterday's sermon (: (for those of you who paid attention!!)

No point living an empty life and falling into all the traps satan has set for us right? (:

Remember:
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and thieves break in and steal.
But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal."
- Matthew 6:19-20

Have a great week ahead (:

take care and God bless (:

PRAISE THE LORD!!!

Just the other day, I heard a piece of excellent news from my friends.

I invited one of my friends for the musical last year. That friend was one whom people found extremely obnoxious and hated alot. Many stayed away from her, though frankly, as I was not in the same class as her, I didn't really see what was wrong... So anyways, I invited her for the musical. At the end, I asked her if she felt anything, and she said she just felt really sad and that it was touching.

Well I have to admit i WAS a little disappointed. I knew that it wasn't up to me to convert her, it was the Holy Spirit. but I couldn't help feeling like I could have done something. I went back home and prayed really hard for her, for the weeks after the musical as well. then gradually, i began to forget about it, and i stopped praying for her...

well i only just found out this week that she has been touched by the Holy Spirit, and the only reason i found out was that i watched her behaviour beginning to change a little. many people were commenting as well that she wasn't that bad... i wondered why, until i saw that she came for the school's prayer cell on the first week. i was so overjoyed! i felt i just HAD to share this piece of good news with someone, and so this is one of the ways i am doing so... (:

you see, i thought that she had not been touched at all by the musical. but actually, the musical had raised her curiosity. she began asking questions and seeking answers. i'm not sure if she went to church, but i would assume she did, for i heard she accepted Christ sometime during the December holidays.

well indeed, PRAISE THE LORD! in all things, God performs wonders, because honestly, if you asked anyone who knew her last year, they would probably say she was one of the people who was not very likely to become a Christian. :P

i know many people reading the post will be thinking that i'm crazy, rejoicing so much over only one person coming to Christ. but, the Bible says that the angels and the entire heavens rejoice when one lost soul comes back to the Lord

let us continually make an effort to reach out to the people we love and even the people we don't, so that they may know God and be saved (:

and as the school year starts, let us uplift each other in prayer and seek God in everything we do (:

AMEN!! :D
take care and God bless everyone! (:

PLHers!

Prinsep Lighthouse (PLH) is the youth ministry of Prinsep Street Presbyterian Church. It’s meant for all youths aged 13-18 years old to come together every Sunday for a fellowship as well as to worship God and learn more about Him.PLH is on every Sunday from 11am to 12.45pm. On usual Sundays, we have worship time from 11-11.30am. During worship, we sing songs of praise to God.

After which the youths will break up into their respective groups to do a Bible Study for the rest of the time there. These Bible Studies are led by Mentors, who are really nice and fun people and are very knowledgeable and helpful as well. While doing Bible Studies, we share about our life too! Our joy, our pride, our problems, our challenges..and through this, we make loads of great friends!!

Sing Praise! New songs welcome :)
