we are UNIQUE!!! :D

hello everyone (:

just the other day I was debating with my mum about the length of my fingers. I was saying that my fingers are really short, and that I have the shortest fingers in class, but my mum was saying that I have the longest fingers in the family. After I won that debate, my mum was again commenting on how my feet were quite small, and on and on we went... Sparing you the details and to cut a long story short, something struck me as I recalled a verse in the Bible.

well the very next day, I was doing some last minute Christmas shopping and decided to take a look in life bookstore (that's a Christian bookstore, for those of you who don't go out much (:) when a book caught my eye. The title was "God's mirror". Well I didn't really need to flip open the book to know that it was about how we were made in His image and that we should reflect to others how God wants us to behave. Then the verse struck me again.

Well I was having lunch with a friend, and he just happened to mention a song, saying it was about Psalm 139, and immediately I mentioned the verse that struck me, and he looked at me in shock, asking how I knew the title of the song. hmm...

and yet again, while I was dozing on the mrt today, a conversation between two old ladies happened to be the first thing i heard when i jerked awake. One of them was talking about how her grandson used to be so handsome and such a good boy before he started dying his hair and doing all sorts of body piercings just so that he could fit in with his 'cool' friends. And this time the verse crashed into my head like a slap across the face.

well it can't get any clearer than THAT. I mean, how often does a verse strike you four times, three days in a row? God was yelling at me, and I felt this overwhelming sense to tell someone about it, and so what better way to do it than here?

I'm sure you're all familiar with this verse after last year's church camp :P but God is reminding me of this verse once again, seeing as I've forgotten about it for some time.

"I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
Psalm 139:14
We are all fearfully and wonderfully made, God knew what we would look like from even before our parents met! Doesn't that make you feel special? He made each and every one of us different, for different reasons. But you know what? He made us IN HIS IMAGE. We are God's mirrors! People look at us, and they see God's reflection! WE are the very likeness of God Himself! Therefore, we must SHINE like a beacon of LIGHT for others to SEE and PRAISE God for His wonders! (:
The next time you don't feel good about yourself, or you look in the mirror and don't like what you see there, remember that WE ARE FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE, and WE ARE MADE IN THE IMAGE OF GOD! look at yourself in a new light, and stand up and say "I AM SPECIAL! and God has an EXTRA SPECIAL plan for YOU! :D
have a blessed Christmas everyone!!! xD
samantha (:

BBC camp outdoor games

PRAISE BE TO GOD!!!

many ppl have been thanking the youth comm for our hard work and all, but I just wanna say that all praise and glory and honour should go to God. (:

i have something i'm just DYING to share, cos it really must reach the ears of everyone who went for the outdoor games and anyone else as a matter of fact :D

the few days before the outdoor games, it was raining heavily everyday, and i was keeping track of the time it rained everyday to see if i would really need a solid wet weather program.

well, the 1st day of camp, it rained so heavily during the time that was supposed to be during the water fight, and that night the whole youth comm gathered and prayed so hard for the weather to be good during outdoor games.

well guess what? during the outdoor games, as all of you who played would know, the weather was PERFECT.

in the beginning, the sky was perfectly cloudless and it wasn't too hot and there was even a slight breeze!

then as you guys got to farrer park field the clouds began to mass over the field, and all the youth comm members there were praying super hard agn for the weather to hold.

then the first few drops of rain came, just when i couldn't get any control over the campers, and everyone began paying attention when i said it was going to rain.

then, praise the Lord! the clouds moved away!

and when we ran out of water and the campers began to get a little out of hand, God sent the rain to tell us that we should stop.

and probably the most amazing thing is that at the end when God did send the rain at the end, He sent a really slight drizzle on our end of the field while it was pouring on the other end of the field. the rain was really there just to hurry us to get under the HDB flat faster so that we wouldn't get wet. only when we all got under the HDB flat did it really start to pour...

really, in all things, GOD IS GOOD!! and i just really wanna thank Him and sing praises to Him for making this camp a success (:

and for all those who are sick, do rest well and get well soon ok? God bless all of you!

take care and God bless :D

BBC

I am sure that everyone who attended the BBC will agree that it was indeed a very fun and enjoyable camp....and for that we do really have to thank the Youth Committee for putting it all together!! Youth Comm members, please stand and take a bow - well done!! They'll tell us, "All glory be to the Lord", and that is true, but still we'll like to show our appreciation for your hard work and your love for us, and the Lord....so "THANK YOU"!!
I would also like to thank the ladies (and some husbands too! it's wonderful to see family effort!!) from church who so lovingly put together the best Christmas party dinner I can remember....yummmmm!!! The 'tenderest' turkey, the creamy homemade mushroom soup (with REAL mushroom!) and crispy garlic bread, 2 types of pasta (both scrumptiously delicious!), the gigantic mouth-watering German Bratwurst, healthy salad etc....and don't even get me started on the various dessert!! Apple crumble, japanses jelly (dont' know what's the proper name), longan+jelly and the list goes on and on... It's wonderfully in line with our camp theme on Building the Body of Christ - the ladies certainly used their gifts and talents to bless us! Thank you ladies!
The treasure hunt was interesting, to say the least. And the idea of sharing food....a trying experience for some(?), but certainly brought out the lesson of ACTS 2, where the disciples shared everything - object lesson achieved! The highlight of the games day must be the mudfest! And it was, well, just down right dirty! And thanks to Marie and Raquel and Michelle (Goh), i couldn't achieve my goal of staying 'mud-free'. Sigh.... how come mentor Justin, Uli, Shih Kiat, Francis, Darryl...all of them can stay mud-free and not me?!!? Very bad.
Besides the mudfest, I heard there was also a wrestling match, Royal Rumble style. And the wrestling was so intense that all the wrestlers ended up with multiple bruises, cuts and abrasions! Errr.... BBC - building the body of God, not building your body thru wrestling hor!
I hope that during this BBC camp, through all the fun, games, fellowship and getting to make know each other more (and I am very encouraged to see that some of you were really making the effort to reach out and get to know the BBs and GBs - the Lord will definitely bless your effort), the most important of all is that you will develop a close and personal walk with the Lord Jesus, that you will not just 'know about' Jesus or 'know about' God, but truly KNOW and experience Him in a real way, in a way that will transform you to be more Christlike day by day. Ask the Lord and seek Him earnestly, He will surely answer you.

Prinsep Lighthouse (PLH) is the youth ministry of Prinsep Street Presbyterian Church. It’s meant for all youths aged 13-18 years old to come together every Sunday for a fellowship as well as to worship God and learn more about Him.PLH is on every Sunday from 11am to 12.45pm. On usual Sundays, we have worship time from 11-11.30am. During worship, we sing songs of praise to God.

After which the youths will break up into their respective groups to do a Bible Study for the rest of the time there. These Bible Studies are led by Mentors, who are really nice and fun people and are very knowledgeable and helpful as well. While doing Bible Studies, we share about our life too! Our joy, our pride, our problems, our challenges..and through this, we make loads of great friends!!
