Hope you all had fun at the easter retreat :)

We must thank the mentors, the seniors and the youth comm for letting the camp run smoothly... but above all, thank YOU for being such great campers, and sleeping EVENTUALLY and attempting to pay attention to all the talks and workshops :) (And lets not forget our big Heavenly Dad as well ;) )

i will just put up what i remember about what's in the easter retreat packing list here since it's still not up. sorry people to keep you waiting..

easter retreat starts on friday at 3pm. THREE pm. be in church by THREE. we dont want any delay in your groupings and roomings. for everyone's convenience please be considerate and show up on time so we can register you.

it will last til sat about 5pm. stayover is in church. something like last year's BBC.

there will be mass games (you may get kinda wet) and talks about interesting stuff, such as BGR (boy-girl relationship). i think we should all attend this as it will be really beneficial for ALL of us. and we should really learn from the talk. like really really..

packing list:

this is quite common sense actually..

bible
quiet time material (your own)
writing materials and notebook
extra clothes (3 sets to be safe. there will be wet games)
girls please wear a dark shirt for the mass games
extra footwear (sandals) and socks
towel
toiletries
personal medication
sleeping bag

that should be all.. should be ok since it's only 1 stayover night.

whoever is supposed to put up the packing list, if you happen to see this and there needs to be changes to mine then please edit it.

hey PLH! hope everyone's holidays have been fruitful so far! it's already saturday and only 2 more days til the start of second term:( how sad man.. maybe they should make march holidays two weeks instead of one. haha.

well, i hope all of you have been able to use your time wisely to study and revise your stuff and finish your homework. i can't say the same for myself heh.. personally, to me, the holidays have never really been about catching up with work.. hmm..

good thing is that i have been able to catch up on my Quiet Time and i'm still on track with my Bible Reading as well!:) see, it CAN be done! and i guess my consolation is that it's better to catch up with Quiet Time than to catch up with homework:p though it's no excuse for not studying!! lol.

i heard that the musical last night was pretty good. wasn't there to see it, but i'll be going for this evening's one! encouragement to all those involved to keep going!! keep praying guys! i'll be bringing a friend so hope it'll be good for him too.

reminder that easter retreat is from 21-22 march (fri-sat). i'm sure that the youth comm will do their best to make it a great time for you guys! there'll be fun (really fun) games and beneficial (really beneficial) talks for all of us to learn from. keep the youth comm in prayer too! we'll need it. like.. alot..

yo PLH! hope you guys are having a great holiday so far!! my holiday has been pretty busy. have had to go back for extra lessons (pffft.. lame..) and soccer training (that's what i'm talking about!) but waking up at 6 in the morning on a holiday is still NOT COOL! :(

well besides having posts about stories and stuff like that, i think we should make the blog more personal as well. putting up stuff that we modern day teens can relate to.

so yes, now i will admit to you that i have not done my Quiet Time for a few days.. BUT i will catch up soon!! cos i am free tomorrow, so i will use my EXTRA HOLIDAY TIME that i have from the holidays to CATCH UP WITH MY QUIET TIME. :D

well now let me tell you about the PLH games day that took place last saturday (8march) since not many of you went, i think you probably missed out on quite a bit. there was an okay-okay turnout of 21 people (7 in youth comm, 2 new-comers, and 12 other PLHers) okay... that's not very okay.. but i'm sure those who went had LOADS of FUN!!!

here is some feedback from our 2 newcomers who went:
"ya fun... interesting games, fun people, engaging"
"great fun, good location, nice weather, good facilities, and good food!"

due to the much smaller turnout, the youth comm had to think up new games on the spot. but these games turned out to be fun!! there was cat and fish. and i mean REAL FISH. and sotong too!:p, protect your banana (real bananas as well!) with water bombs. as well as captains ball. but we didnt use a real ball for that, instead we used stuff like cabbage, brinjal, papaya, etc.. so the games were really dirty and wet! (partly because the youth comm was splashing water at those playing) yup, so after much screaming and playing, the girls went to take a bath while the boys played more street soccer:) (i got a big blister on my toe for playing bare-footed!!!)

after lunch we went to the sports hall to play badminton and table tennis. i think some people went to play basketball and football too. it was a pretty good time of fellowship and bonding. also for making new friends! so at 4pm everyone went home happy:) unless they were feeling sad to leave haha.

all in all i think it was a good first assignment for the youth comm. the turnout might have been a bit disappointing but i think they bounced back well with fast thinking for fun games!:) so, great job youth comm!

also many thanks to the mentors who came to help!! although they didnt have many people to ferry they still helped out quite abit haha:)

let's also thank our Lord for the good weather he provided and for bringing those people who came safely. also thank him for the great fun and fellowship we had:) i hope that our next games day will have a bigger turnout or else YOU might miss out on alot of fun! lol.

remember that the believers' musical is coming this friday and saturday! please keep those involved in prayer as well as remember to invite your friends!:)

our next big event will be the annual easter retreat (21-22march) so set aside those dates to come for it! there will be meaningful talks and fun games as well! bonding and fellowship time is included:) batteries sold seperately..

so have a great holiday ahead guys! hope you are still remembering the Lord during this period:)

i'm sure those who went for games day yesterday had lots of fun!!:)

those that didn't go sure missed out on alot of cool stuff eh? hahaha.

well.. it's my shift to post on the PLH blog this week so you guys will see two more posts from me in the next 6 days or so :p

also recently it seems that the PLHers have FORGOTTEN that this blog actually EXISTS haha. for some reason the blog died down during january or so. probably cos everyone was adjusting back to school life lol. so let's try to get it up and running again eh? we'll need YOUR help as well. visit regularly, tell your friends to visit, stuff like that. if you have a meaningful post just send it to a youth comm member via email too:) it's the LIGHTHOUSE blog, NOT lighthouse youth comm blog! haha. oh yes, and remember to TAG!!!!

also now there're new youth comm members and a new structure that is about to be formed so we will be having a bit of a transition period to get a feel of how stuff is done in the youth comm, if necessary, to make some changes for the good of PLH. i know this will not be at all easy, but we'll try our best and we'll need YOUR help as well! yes, YOU! everyone in PLH has a part to play, from the quietest sec1 to the loudest J2! if you leave it all to the youth comm, the 11 of us will just get depressed and emo and stuff like that, AND THAT'S NOT COOL!!

hahaha okay i think i've said just about enough.. hope everybody has a great one week march holiday ahead!! though with the way schools are run in singapore nowadays it's not much of a break anyway cos of extra lessons, cca, etc.. but hey, that's school for you.. THERE IS NO BREAK. come on man, give me a break, give me a kit-kat..

also remember to use this week to get closer to GOD! catch up on your bible reading and quiet time!:)

YO PEOPLE!! it's time to ROCK N' ROLL!!!
as you all should know by now (unless you haven't been paying attention to the announcements on sundays!!) the PLH games day will be THIS SATURDAY 8 march!!:)

this is our game plan:

9am everyone meet at buona vista MRT station!! our friendly bouncers hannah and timothy will be there to ensure safety and smooth transtion for YOU from the mrt all the way to the pick up point. the pick up point is from 9am-9.20am so please don't be late!! NUS is a hard place to find! haha.

we will start our mass games at 10am! the youth comm have put together some cool games for you! so make sure you are there! please bring along extra clothes and bathing materials as the games MAY be quite wet;) also bring along your waterbottle (with water inside!) i also suggest we wear sandals for the mass games and bring along a pair of sports shoes for the sports. girls please wear dark clothes. boys: dark clothing optional.

we will have bathing and lunch from 12-2pm. at 2pm you will be free to play whatever sports you want. there will be badminton, squash, tennis, TABLE tennis, pool, football and basketball. please bring along your own equipment (eg. badminton rackets, etc..)

also remember to invite your friends along!:) pray about it too.

for those who have band prac on saturday, you might want to get someone not going for games day to replace you. this is compulsory for youth comm members, you MUST get someone to replace you.

please keep the youth comm in prayer as this is our first assignment:) thanks lots! hope to see you there on saturday!:) be there or be square..

Think about this the next time you come for Lighthouse. Give God your all, or don't even try. There's no in between and no point in half hearted worship.











Dear Lord, I thank you for this day.

I thank You for my being able to see and to hear this morning.

I'm blessed because You are a forgiving God and an understanding God.
You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me.

Forgive me this day for everything I have done, said or thought that was not pleasing to you.I ask now for Your forgiveness.

Please keep me safe from all danger and harm.

I think this is really meaningful and we should always pray in this manner, not only thinking of ourselves or even only of our friends, but also of people whom we may or may not know who have not accepted Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour...

I pray now that all of you (yes, even those non believers or passers by... welcome by the way :P) who read this will be blessed and that no matter how good or bad your day was, that you will still give thanks and say the same prayer again the next day (:

Prinsep Lighthouse (PLH) is the youth ministry of Prinsep Street Presbyterian Church. It’s meant for all youths aged 13-18 years old to come together every Sunday for a fellowship as well as to worship God and learn more about Him.PLH is on every Sunday from 11am to 12.45pm. On usual Sundays, we have worship time from 11-11.30am. During worship, we sing songs of praise to God.

After which the youths will break up into their respective groups to do a Bible Study for the rest of the time there. These Bible Studies are led by Mentors, who are really nice and fun people and are very knowledgeable and helpful as well. While doing Bible Studies, we share about our life too! Our joy, our pride, our problems, our challenges..and through this, we make loads of great friends!!
