"Those I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me."
Revelations 3: 19-20
Recently I have felt prompted to share this with you all, but i'm not really good at this kind of thing... anyway, here goes.
' "When you bring blind animals for sacrifice, is that not wrong? When you sacrifice crippled or diseased animals, is that not wrong? Try offering them to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you?" says the Lord Almighty. "Now implore God to be gracious to us. With such offerings from your hands, will he accept you?" says the Lord Almighty. "Oh, that one of you would shut the temple doors, so that you would not light useless fires on my altar! I am not pleased with you," says the Lord Almighty, "and I will accept no offering from your hands." '
- Malachi 1: 8 - 10
"I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm -neither hot nor cold- I am about to spit you out of my mouth."
- Revelations 3:15 - 16
Think about this the next time you come for Lighthouse. Give God your all, or don't even try. There's no in between and no point in half hearted worship.
Why do we do the things we do? I mean, seriously. Your reason and motives behind doing things are more important than you know. For example, why do you donate your offerings every sunday? Why did you join the band or worship team? Why did you sign up for BBC or Church Camp? Even, why did you volunteer for that Missions Trip to the Phillipines or India?
Ask yourself that for a moment.
You might get a variety of responses, like "so I can help other people" or "we should give back to God an amount of what He blesses us with" or "so we can bring more people to Christ" or "because we should serve God". Look deeper. Are those your only reasons?
Did you hesitate before signing up for that trip because you decided you didn't want to go if ____ wasn't going?
Do you sing loudly during worship so that you can impress ____ with your voice, or just show off your talent at singing?
Is your highlight at Church Camp listening to the message or going back to your room to play ssm/werewolf/truth or dare?
Do you donate because you're forced to, or not donate at all?
If you're not doing it for God, or doing it halfheartedly, then you're not doing it right.
Of course, no one's perfect. We're all human, and we can't guarantee that everytime we do something it's for the right reasons. Sometimes we feel like we're not good enough to serve God.
But it is written:
"Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts.
But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.
They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on."
Mark 12: 41 - 43
So as long as you try your best to do whatever you're doing for God, then God will be pleased. It's only natural and okay to have more than one motive behind your actions, but whats important is that you try.
I admit that I've done alot of the things that I've been doing for all the wrong reasons. But there is always a chance for change. Start today. Before you go to sleep, pray and ask God to help you do whatever you do for His purposes. You may still be looking forward to spending time with your friends while doing Missions work overseas, but always remember the reason why you are doing what you are doing.
"So whatever you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."

PLHers!
Prinsep Lighthouse (PLH) is the youth ministry of Prinsep Street Presbyterian Church.
It’s meant for all youths aged 13-18 years old to come together every Sunday for a fellowship
as well as to worship God and learn more about Him.PLH is on every Sunday from 11am to 12.45pm.
On usual Sundays, we have worship time from 11-11.30am. During worship, we sing songs of praise to God.
After which the youths will break up into their respective groups to do a Bible Study for the rest of the time there.
These Bible Studies are led by Mentors, who are really nice and fun people and are very knowledgeable and helpful as well.
While doing Bible Studies, we share about our life too! Our joy, our pride, our problems, our challenges..and through this,
we make loads of great friends!!
Sing Praise! New songs welcome :)
