"And if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God" Proverbs 2 : 3-5

Every week we go to PLH and we meet up with friends and we worship God, learn his word and try to understand abit more about him. But honestly, ask yourselves (no names here, just ask yourself) how often do we go back home feeling as if we've learned next to nothing? The question isn't a rethroical one, so the answer doesn't have to be a 'very often'.

But if your answer was something along the lines of 'often', then stop and look at the verses above. It says "look for it (insight) as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure". To begin with, we have to want to search for God with all our heart and soul. Just going to church and singing songs of praise and attending DG doesn't mean that you are looking for God. The verses say that we must search for him with the same determination as searching for hidden treasure, which isn't easily found. We have to give our all in worshiping God and trying to understand his word, then only can we really "understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God".

I'm not saying that it will be easy to do this, but all we need to do is to try. Make a conscious effort to give your all to God. As Tim has said, what's important is that you try. So when we next meet for worship, let's examine our hearts and ask ourselves, are we really searching for the treasure that is Godly insight?

Prinsep Lighthouse (PLH) is the youth ministry of Prinsep Street Presbyterian Church. It’s meant for all youths aged 13-18 years old to come together every Sunday for a fellowship as well as to worship God and learn more about Him.PLH is on every Sunday from 11am to 12.45pm. On usual Sundays, we have worship time from 11-11.30am. During worship, we sing songs of praise to God.

After which the youths will break up into their respective groups to do a Bible Study for the rest of the time there. These Bible Studies are led by Mentors, who are really nice and fun people and are very knowledgeable and helpful as well. While doing Bible Studies, we share about our life too! Our joy, our pride, our problems, our challenges..and through this, we make loads of great friends!!
